Cyber Terrorism

Posted by Editor in April 20th 2008

The Internet is a constantly hostile environment, we need firewalls, anti virus, anti spyware and security updates.

With the internet expanding contributed to technological advancement and popularity, business and government sectors are taking advantage of the conveniences it provides, this has brought along with it serious vulnerabilities.

These were outlined in a letter to President George W. Bush sent by a group of concerned scientists:

“The critical infrastructure of the United States, including electrical power, finance, telecommunications, health care, transportation, water, defense and the Internet, is highly vulnerable to cyber attack. Fast and resolute mitigating action is needed to avoid national disaster.”

Web Browsers

Posted by Editor in April 14th 2008

If you getting bored with our current web browser then consider installing a totally new one.

Safari

is the standard browser by Apple but now its available for XP or Vista, it looks good feels great and Apple claim it’s the fastest one available.

Having a high speed connection is good but having a fast browser program combined with a fast PC or Mac will make a big difference.

Mozzila Firefox

I highly recommended this web browser:

  • It’s open source;
  • Has useful Add-ons ;
  • Is more secure than Internet Explorer;
  • And it’s great for developers;

Add-ons that I recommened:

SUPER - Simplified Universal Player Encoder and Renderer

Posted by Editor in April 1st 2008

A very useful tool for converting any multimedia file which is surprisingly free of charge and is probably better than most programs that you would have to pay for. This is made by erightsoft.com all credit goes to them.

But I find it a pain to download from there site because you have to go through 4 pages before you get to the hard to find link so I uploaded it to this Blog so you can download it from here purely for your convenience.

The software has not been tampered with if you have any doubts just download it from erightsoft.com

Rock Steady Crew

Hey You

NYC Breakerz Vs Rock Steady Crew

The Rock Steady Crew was established in 1977 by Bronx b-boys Jimmy D and Jojo. When they started this crew in the streets of the Bronx, they had no idea that someday it would take them all around the world.

Only the best b-boys were down with Rock Steady. They had rivals in all five boroughs of New York and for every rival there were ten kids who wanted to be down with them. However, getting into the original crew was not easy. To get into Rock Steady you had to battle one of the other b-boys in the crew. It was a competition few people won.
In 1979 when the b-boying hype was beginning to die down, Jimmy D put Crazy Legs and Lenny Len down with Rock Steady just in time to add new life to the art form and take it to the next level. This was at a time when Crazy Legs moved to Manhattan.

Growing Up Online

Posted by Editor in January 24th 2008

Recently broadcast on Frontline this is a really interesting documentary about young people, the internet and there lives.

It talks about the serious side like how cyber bullying can kill and about why parents are so concerned because most of the time they are oblivious to whats going on. If you missed the episode you can watch it online.

This is a must see I highly recommend it:

Chris Pirillo and Friends

Posted by Editor in January 20th 2008

Lockernome

Yes you may have heard the name before this guy is really knowledgeable about the internet , PCs, Mac’s, software, etc.

If you visit his blog regularly you’ll come across a lot of information (also contributed by the audience like the Top Five’s) of some great software, tweeks and cyber ethics like how not to be a spamming and abusive asshole on the chat room.

Chris’s friends are sometimes featured on the live stream like Kat, Datalore, and Wirelesspacket to name a few.

So if you wanna chat or need advice visit Chris and don’t forget he’s on Youtube as well.
